Do a running jump over the gap and continue on along the path though to where Sparx is waiting. You can now move, follow along where he went and go up the slope to where it stops. Follow him with the camera until he goes behind a large mushroom plant. Move the camera around until you spot Sparx over to the right. After the introduction movie, you'll gain control of the young, purple dragon known as Spyro, well, almost.
